1.) Cataracts is more common to people whose eyes are darker
-The American Journal of Ophthalmology suggested that people whose eyes are darker have 1.5 to 2.5 times greater risk of cataracts. Cataracts is often characterized by fogginess appearing over the pupil of the eye.
2.) Blue-eyed people have lower risk of having Vitiligo
-A study from health magazine Nature found out that people who have blue eyes are less likely to have autoimmune disease which causes the loss of pigments of the skin. An author from uthe University of Colorado School of Medicine named Richard A. Spritz, MD, claimed that the variations of two particular genes are present in people with blue eyes. The same variation is helpful in decreasing the risk of vitiligo.
3.) Blue-eyed people therefore have greater risk of Melanoma
-Experts said that Vitiligo and Melanoma are opposite with each other. The variation which protects one from vitiligo actually affects the risk of obtaining melanoma.
4.) Alcohol effects can be felt more sensitively by people with dark eyes
-In a 2001 study published in Personality and Individual Differences, they found out that prisoners who are light-eyed are more frequent to be alcohol abusers. They then hypothesized that people who have darker eyes are more sensitive to drugs and alcohol.
5.) Light-eyed women can withstand pain better
-In the 2014 annual meeting of the American Pain Society, it was revealed that women with light eyes have more pain tolerance. On the other hand, women with darker eyes tend to be more anxious and sleepy to overcome pain and discomfort. Experts from this academe used women’s child birth to come up with these findings.
