President Duterte Couldn’t Help But Cry As He Comforted the Relative of a Slain Marine!

The conflict in Marawi City between government forces and the Maute terrorist group has already cost numerous lives. Among the latest casualties were members of the Philippine Marines deployed to the area. President Rodrigo Duterte couldn’t help but hold back tears as he comforted one of the relatives of a slain marine.
Pinoy Trending noted that this event happened on June 11th, Sunday, when President Duterte attended the arrival honors for the 8 slain marines who were killed in action during the ongoing Marawi conflict. The source said that the event was held in Villamor Airbase.

Facebook fan page CinEmotion Digital Films uploaded a clip that showed President Duterte getting emotional as he comforted one of the relatives of a slain Marine. The clip was only 12 seconds long but it perfectly captured the President’s pain as the woman cried in front of him.

It was not known which Marine member the woman was a relative of but it was evident that she was deeply hurt by the tragedy that the Marines had suffered.
According to ABS-CBN News, there are still hundreds of civilians trapped in Marawi City. Military spokesperson Brigadier General Restituto Padilla revealed in an interview that he doesn’t have any idea when the fighting will end. He said:

“I can’t give you an estimate because of compounding developments faced by ground commanders.”

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have aimed for June 12 – the Philippines’ Independence Day – as the date to fully eradicate all of the militants in the area who have pledged their allegiance to the Islamic State. As of Tuesday, June 13, the conflict rages on.
As of this writing, the video showing President Duterte crying with the relative of the slain Marine has already reached 641 thousand views and 21 thousand likes on Facebook.
