Allu Arjun reveals he had decided never to do a Bollywood movie: ‘It was extremely hard to break into the industry’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Allu Arjun won the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in the 2021 hit movie ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, and he is currently gearing up for the release of its much-awaited sequel, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule‘, on December 5. At a recent event, the actor revealed what led him to decide against doing a Hindi film and how the National Award win for Tollywood felt.
At a press conference in Mumbai promoting ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, Allu Arjun shared heartfelt reflections on his recent National Award win for Best Actor. The ‘Pushpa 2’ star credited the achievement to the relentless efforts of his team, particularly director Sukumar. Arjun revealed that his ambition for the honor began before ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, expressing his determination to elevate his craft to a level worthy of such recognition. Calling the win an “absolute honor,” he highlighted the collaborative spirit that contributed to the film’s success.
Allu Arjun disclosed that director Sukumar had promised to craft a film worthy of earning him a National Award. Sukumar assured the actor that he would put in his best efforts to create a project where audiences would unanimously feel the recognition was well-deserved. “It is most special because in the last 69 years, no Telugu actor has won the National Award. That was in my heart. It is going to be a remarkable achievement in my life. It happened only because of one man, Sukumar Garu,” Arjun expressed.

The actor also shared his bond with music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP), who also won a National Award for his music direction in ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. Recalling their conversations, Arjun mentioned that both he and DSP, who hail from Chennai, once considered working on Hindi films a challenging prospect. However, as a musician, Arjun believed DSP would find it easier to work in Bollywood. “I would ask him why he doesn’t do it. He would respond, ‘No, and why don’t you do a Hindi film? Along with you, I will also do a Hindi film.’ I said I would never do a Hindi film because, at that time, it was extremely hard to break into the industry,” Allu stated.

He shared how working on Hindi films once seemed like a distant dream. However, he now hopes to work on one or two Hindi films in the future. The actor added that from initially perceiving it as difficult, he and DSP have come a long way, their journey enriched by their National Award wins. Arjun believes that creating a super-hit album and winning hearts is the most precious achievement for the ‘Pushpa’ team.
The Allu Arjun-starrer ‘Pushpa: The Rule’ also features Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in key roles.
