Charles Michel discusses EU-Azerbaijan relations at COP29

Charles Michel, President of the European Council, reached Azerbaijan on November 11 to attend the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. At Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the European Council President was received by Vugar Mustafayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense Industry, along with other officials.
EU Council’s Charles Michel congratulated Azerbaijan on hosting COP29 and wished success for the occasion. He also voiced hope that important decisions on climate change would be developed at this event. He also stressed that climate change is one of the priority and crucial issues on the European Union’s agenda.

During the session, they discussed the prospects for developing links between the European Union and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan’s Head emphasised the mediating role played by President Charles Michel in the negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, stating that under his mediation, the structure of the negotiation process and the agenda on critical issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan were specified.
