Chunky Pandey jokes about DNA test for his daughter Ananya Panday, her mom Bhavana Pandey says ‘Ananya is a better actor at home than on screen’ – Times of India
Actor Ananya Panday has been showcasing her acting talent in various roles ever since her debut in ‘Student of the Year 2’ in 2019. Her father, actor Chunky Pandey, never hesitates to share his thoughts on her acting skills, whether highlighting her strengths or addressing her weaknesses.
In a chat with Ananya on the We Are Yuvaa YouTube channel, Chunky mentioned that one of her flaws as an actor is her “shrieky” voice. During the conversation, Ananya asked her father if he thinks she is a good actor. He responded humorously, “At home or on screen? Mum thinks I am a better actor at home than on screen.” The father-daughter duo burst into laughter as Ananya shared a funny anecdote about her mother. She revealed, “Whenever my mom and dad fight, she tells him, ‘Save it for the screen.’ I find it damn funny.”

Chunky Pandey expressed admiration for his daughter’s acting abilities, emphasizing her growth as an actor. Reflecting on her performances, he highlighted her remarkable ability to carry an entire series, such as ‘Call Me Bae‘, across eight episodes. He particularly praised her charisma and skill in keeping the audience engaged throughout the show. Comparing his own acting journey, Chunky joked that while he excels in isolated scenes, Ananya’s talent for anchoring entire projects made him wonder about her unique abilities, quipping that he wanted her DNA checked.
When Ananya asked her father about any flaws he still noticed, Chunky mentioned that her voice is something he has often felt she should work on. She asked if it was still a drawback in his view. Chunky candidly replied, “Sometimes, I feel you can tone down the shriek. It has gotten slightly better. But every time you shriek, I want to call you up wherever you are at that moment. Even though I have so many flaws, every actor does. Actually, we become good actors because of our flaws.”
Chunky also reminisced about his iconic role as Aakhri Pasta in the *Housefull* series, sharing a humorous anecdote about his performance. He admitted that while attempting an Italian accent, his mimicry skills inadvertently blended Afghani elements into the character, humorously describing Aakhri Pasta as a mix of a Pathan and an Italian. “It’s not bad—we can have flaws. But yours looks like a flawless performance, bae. I am proud of you,” he said, appreciating Ananya.
On the work front, Chunky Panday recently shared the screen with Anupam Kher in ‘Vijay 69’. Meanwhile, Ananya Panday was last seen in Vikramaditya Motwane’s ‘CTRL’ and is gearing up for the release of Vivek Soni’s ‘Chand Mera Dil’, alongside Lakshya Lalwani, set to release in 2025.
