In AIADMK meet, former Ministers train guns on DMK government
Senior AIADMK leaders called upon the members of the party’s general and executive councils to stay united, work hard and make people realise that the AIADMK had the potential to question the DMK government.
Speaking at the meeting, party deputy general secretary K.P. Munusamy said: “We should create a situation in which people would know that AIADMK and DMK were rivals the AIADMK had the potential to question the DMK government.”
Charging that the DMK president was depending solely on the electoral alliance and not on his own government, the former Minister said: “Mr. Stalin is not even trusting his own government but the alliance. If a leader of an ally spoke something, he invites him to sit next to him and conducts a photoshoot to claim that the alliance stood united. But, our leadership is banking on the hardwork of two crore party workers.” DMK president M.K. Stalin had “sidelined” many senior party leaders but made his son as the Deputy Chief Minister, the Mr. Munusamy said. He called upon his party functionaries at least 10 protests or agitations to point out that the DMK did not fulfill its electoral assurances.
Former Minister C.Ve. Shanmugam called upon party men to stay united and further recalled instances from the past when the AIADMK-led electoral alliances were finalized only just a few weeks before the elections were held in 2001 and in 2011. He maintained that the AIADMK general secretary would take care of electoral alliances and instead focus on party activities to secure a win in the 2026 elections.
Contending that the spirit in which AIADMK elected its general secretary continues to be the same and remain united. Calling upon the party’s critics to see for themselves, Mr. Shanmugam asked: “Where is difference of opinion here? Those of you waiting for difference of opinion, look at the spirit here”.
Former Minister Natham R. Viswanathan said that it has been three and a half years since the DMK came to power but it had already earned a bad repution among the people for being “anti-people”. People were already prepared to elect the DMK government out of power whenever elections was held, he claimed.
