Kerala Solidarity Meeting held by worker unions
The Kerala Solidarity Meeting was held on Wednesday under the aegis of CITU, All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), Farmers’ Association, Tenant Farmers’ Association, and Agricultural Workers’ Associations.
Addressing the gathering, AIKS general secretary Viju Krishnan said alternative policies adopted by the Left government in Kerala in all sectors have made the State a leader in many spheres. Kerala is leading in sectors such as literacy, medical facilities, minimum wage implementation, land distribution, a robust public service system, support prices for crops cultivated by farmers, and welfare schemes for workers and agricultural labourers.
He also mentioned that despite the devastating natural disaster in Wayanad, where hundreds of lives were lost and thousands of crores worth of property were damaged, the central government did not provide a single rupee from the National Disaster Fund to Kerala. He condemned the abuse of the Governor’s system by the Central government to block the laws passed by the democratically elected Kerala government.
Mr. Viju Krishnan called for solidarity with the people of Kerala, urging everyone to stand with the Left alternative policies of the Kerala government and to resist the anti-democratic, anti-constitutional policies of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre.
Former Agriculture Minister and Andhra Pradesh Farmers’ Coordination Committee Convener Vadde Shobanadreeswar Rao stated that the BJP government is following corporate-friendly, anti-farmer, and anti-people policies across all sectors. Praising Kerala’s alternative policies in agriculture, cooperation, public service, education, and healthcare as a model for the nation, while accusing the BJP government at the Centre of obstructing progress and acting against the nation’s development.
