Leeds United Need A Better Goalkeeper

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results.

Daniel Farke’s (away) press conferences are cut and paste, Leeds United started too slow, lots of games managing young players fitness, important not to bring players back too quickly, we are one of youngest inexperienced sides in the league.

Everyone of those reported issues is solvable by our manager. Why bring Bogle back in? Why drop Wober (he must be raging) ? Why never give G man a run out or put Amps on in defensive midfield and take BA out?

Why start with slow sideways passing, which gives you 62% possession stats but as a top of the league team One shot on target in first half?

Everyone, especially our centre backs were poor and we lost the goal from their eighteen yard line, but Meslier consistently lets the first shot in anger go in.

Farke said we’re not Citeh or Barcelona so cannot always count on scoring more than the opposition, how did he not save that shot, what must Darlow (not the answer) either think sitting on the bench, it’s insane to keep persevering with the boy when he simply makes so many fundamental mistakes.

Before yesterday’s round of games we had the same amount of clean sheets (11) as Burnley and the Blunts, but the key differences,

Trafford at Burnley is saving 83.3% of the shots he faces, phenomenal.

Blunt’s Michael Cooper cost just £2million from Plymouth is saving 79.1% of his shots faced, excellent.

Our own keeper ranks THIRTEENTH in the division and before yesterday’s round of games had saved 67.5% of all the shots he had faced. Before anyone says it’s a team game what about the defence? You have to truly believe our defence and midfield is of a level of a thirteenth placed team.

Selfishly I’m desperate to win my bet of Leeds as champions against my Citeh nemesis, but I am concerned with our young French goalkeeper. We have to work, score so many more goals than blunts and Burnley just to maintain parity.

Meslier holding his place and there being no meaningful recruitment (Australian 17 olds aside) in the GK department is just unfathomable to me.

Lucky point yesterday, but we can simply improve our need to rely on luck by signing a better keeper.
