Global leader in intelligent observability platform space New Relic has deepened its engagement with Hyderabad by opening a 500-seat office, forging a corporate partnership with T-Hub and evaluating startups to strike synergies.

The new Hyderabad Innovation Centre is a key component of the San Francisco-headquartered firm’s expansion and places India on equal footing with its U.S. and European innovation centres, CEO Ashan Willy said in an interaction recently.

The global headcount of the firm is 2,500. Of that, 700 people are in India, including 500 in Hyderabad. New Relic had recently opened a 300-seat office in Bengaluru. The number of employees in India has risen from about 100 in March, he said.

Besides the tech talent it offered, India is an important market, with some of the most advanced digital native businesses in the country, he said. Besides business from Indian companies and potentially the government, what makes the country an attractive market are the software exports and the demand consequently for solutions such as those of New Relic to eliminate digital interruptions and provide real time insights.

New Relic gets about half of its global revenue, which he said was in the billion range, from North America and the rest is split between Asia and Europe. The Hyderabad facility places India on equal footing with the company’s U.S. and European Innovation Centres, enabling it to tap into local talent and create products for customers in India and around the world, he said. The company would be filling up all the 540 seats at the new facility.

On the partnership with startup incubator T-Hub, he said New Relic has become the first observability vendor to sign a corporate partnership with the incubator. The partnership will see the firm provide support to the local startup ecosystem through dedicated events, community mentorship opportunities and discounted rates for the its Intelligent Observability Platform.
