Manuel Leindekar is the only play who started every match in the same position. He took over the captaincy from Andrés Vilaseca for the home match against Scotland in July. Leindekar retained the captaincy in November. Vilaseca missed the tour to Europe through injury.
Three players started in place of Vilaseca during 2024. Aside from Vilaseca, Juan Manuel Alonso was the one player to start more than one test match at inside center for Uruguay. Overall, this made inside center the position with the second most starting players during the year. Only right wing had more starting players with five in total.
Three players had two starts each at tight head prop. Ignacio Péculo is one of them and he also had one start at loose head prop. Fullback was similar with three different starting players. Ignacio Álvarez had two starts as well as one start at fly half.
Santiago Álvarez dominated scrum-half with five starts. He did not play in the first match of the year. Santiago Arata started against France in what was his 50th test cap. He left injured in the opening quarter. It was his only match of the year. Tomás Inciarte replaced Arata against Les Bleus.
Manuel Ardao and Santiago Civetta both started two test matches at 6. Civetta also had two starts on the other flank. For this reason Civetta, rather than Ardao, is listed below in the most common selection at 6 for 2024.
Similarly, Juan Manuel Alonso is listed as the inside center despite having the same number of starts as Vilaseca. The difference is that Alonso also had a test start in 2024 on the right wing. Of the five players who started on the right wing only Mateo Viñals had more than one start; however, Bautista Basso had one start on the right wing and three starts on the left wing.
